Jin has recently become a topic of conversation because his position is flanked by the famous political duo in the United States, namely Donald Trump and Joe Biden. The BTS member is apparently in second place as the most mentioned person in the world.
According to discussions on the Korean online forum Theqoo, Jin's name has been mentioned around 6 million times over the last 7 days. Meanwhile, ranks 1 and 3 are occupied by Trump and Biden, with 11 million and 5.7 million mentions respectively.
Seeing Jin's position between Trump and Biden for this unexpected reason, netizens were shocked. The reason is, many did not expect Jin's popularity to even surpass Biden in the current United States election season.
"Sandwiched between presidential candidates, Jin is so unreal[sic!]," wrote one netizen. "The fact that Jin is ranked 2nd and he is placed between the two political figures makes it look even funnier[sic!]," added another.
"No seriously, what kind of lineup is this[sic!]," said another netizen. "What, Jin's position is even higher than Biden??? It's extraordinary [sic!]," added another. "He looks like an American presidential candidate if you say it like this," continued another netizen.
On the other hand, Jin was recently appointed as the torchbearer for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Wearing an official white torchbearer uniform, the idol carried the torch from Rue de Rivoli to Carrousel Square, passing through important parts of Paris.
Jin expressed his gratitude by saying, "It is an honor to be part of this very meaningful moment. I was able to fulfill the extraordinary role of torchbearer thanks to ARMY. I am very grateful."
Jin also hopes that the South Korean national team can win. "I hope that all members of the South Korean national team can achieve good results, because they have worked hard. I will support them wholeheartedly," he said. (wk/charity)
