Detective Jeong Chang Gil revealed that it took a long time to draw a sketch of the thief in Goo Hara's house. Detectives suspect that there were accomplices who assisted in the theft.

The theft case at Goo Hara's house which occurred shortly after her death in 2020 is still not resolved. The police still haven't found the perpetrator even though sketches of his face have been widely circulated.

Detective Jeong Chang Gil, who drew a sketch of the thief's face, was invited to be a guest star on the program "You Quiz on the Block" which aired on July 17. There, Yoo Jae Suk asked about the process of making a sketch of the thief's face.

"You were the artist behind the composite sketch in 'Unanswered Questions' and you drew the sketch for the late Goo Hara's safe theft case. How did you feel when 'Unanswered Questions' asked you to create a composite sketch?" Jae Suk asked.

Detective Chang Gil answered, "It was very challenging. The style was similar to the CCTV footage of the Yeongju murder case. In this case, the suspects' eyes were obscured, and they were wearing masks and beanies, so it was very difficult to identify them."

Detective Chang Gil revealed that it took a long time to draw the sketch. However, after watching CCTV footage for two days in a row, the detective finally realized there was a special detail about the thief.

"From CCTV, we can find out physical characteristics such as body type, age, height and weight. Based on my experience, I estimated the suspect's height using the height of the walls and beams, then concluded that the suspect was probably in his late 20s to early "In his 30s and about 175 cm tall," he said.

Detective Chang Gil also highlighted the actions of the suspect who may have known the front door code and was aware of the ceremony commemorating the 49th anniversary of Hara's death. The detective even suspected that there were accomplices who helped in the theft.

"The safe weighed more than 30 kg, and was carried through the second floor railing, indicating that there may have been an accomplice," he added. Detective Chang Gil also admitted that he had received quite a lot of tips regarding the theft case at Hara's house. (wk/charity)
