The drama 'The Red Sleeve' tells the love story between Yi San (Junho), the crown prince who eventually becomes king and Seong Deok Im (Lee Se Young) a palace maid.
Lee Se Young recently had a photo shoot with Vogue Korea magazine. The 1992-born actress also conducted an interview session discussing various things about the popular drama that she recently finished starring in, "The Red Sleeve".
Lee Se Young talked about what her role as Seong Deok Im means in “The Red Sleeve.” "It really made me feel emotional. When I finished filming for a drama, many people asked me what I think my character will do now," said Lee Se Young.
"My character, Seong Deok Im, died in the drama, so it broke my heart. However, I think Deok Im and Yi San (Junho 2PM) know each other's feelings well so they will be fine together," added Lee Se Young .
Lee Se Young also said what she liked about her character. Lee Se Young said, "Deok Im is a strong-willed palace woman who is proud of what she does. When she swore to protect Yi San until she became king, she went against her goal of wanting to live a long and straight life. I think this is very brave of her," said Lee Se Young.
Lee Se Young shared some of the changes she went through thanks to her character. "I usually separate myself from work. But Deok Im changed me in a certain way. Deok Im lives in an era where there are limits to what she can decide for herself," vented Lee Se Young.
"But he wanted to be his own leader and decide things for himself. I started to wonder if I was really making decisions for myself in my own life. I realized that regardless of the outcome, my sense of accomplishment and perspective would change if I started having this mindset," continued Lee Se Young.
"The Red Sleeve" tells the love story between Yi San (Junho), the crown prince who eventually becomes king, and Seong Deok Im (Lee Se Young) a palace maid. Seong Deok Im initially balked at being a concubine but eventually she melted down on Yi San.
Meanwhile, "The Red Sleeve" started broadcast with a rating of 5 percent. However, the ratings for the drama, which also stars Kang Hoon, continued to rise to almost 20 percent, a number that is actually difficult to achieve for an MBC drama. (wk/charity)
