Jung Woo Sung Responds To Criticism 'The Silent Sea' Doesn't Match Scientific Facts, What Does He Say?
Being one of Netflix's most popular dramas, 'The Silent Sea' is getting a lot of feedback. Being criticized for deviating from scientific facts, this is the response of Jung Woo Sung as a producer.

Jung Woo Sung finally spoke up about "The Silent Sea". Although popular, the science fiction drama starring Gong Yoo and Bae Doona is also not free from criticism.

Set in 2075, "The Silent Sea" tells the story of an elite unit team's secret mission journey to go to the moon for 24 hours to collect mysterious samples from the space laboratory, Balhae Station. The story of Han Yun Jae (Gong Yoo) and Song Ji An (Bae Donna) cs has stolen hearts by being ranked as the 3rd most watched television show on Netflix Indonesia as of Wednesday (5/1).

"It seems that many cheered by saying, 'You did a good job' and 'that was a great challenge.'

As a producer, Jung Woo Sung is well aware that "The Silent Sea" will get pro and contra reactions. Regardless of likes or dislikes, the producer chose to focus more on evaluating the drama.

"Because of the characteristics of 'The Silent Sea', I think the likes and dislikes are natural and equally important. We spend time continuously reviewing our shortcomings," he said.

Furthermore, regarding the criticism about the flat character and the lonely plot, Jung Woo Sung also acknowledged his shortcomings. In addition, criticism in the form of scientific errors that obscure the facts is also discussed.

Jung Woo Sung explained, "I think the exact evaluation may vary depending on the type of point of view and what factors one wants to fulfill. 'The Silent Sea' is said to be a science fiction thriller, but it seems to be somewhere between space opera and space exploration," explained Jung Woo Sung.

It turned out that instead of science fiction, Jung Woo Sung shifted the position of "The Silent Sea" in the ranks of space opera. This is because this drama emphasizes more on the philosophical aspects of the world.

"Proving scientific logic is important, but because this work focuses on the philosophical questions of this world, it raises constant questions about how to choose and concentrate during the production process," said Jung Woo Sung.

Jung Woo Sung considers that "The Silent Sea" is a significant work because it can make viewers wonder. "Of course the shortcomings are quite a lot, but I think we can ask again, whether the delivery is meaningless in the part we choose. In that case, I think this drama is quite a significant work," he added. (wk/inta)
