'Intruder' tells the story of a woman who disappeared 25 years ago. When He Returned to His Family a Decade Later, His Big Brother Begins to Be Suspicious.

"Intruder" finally began to decorate the South Korean cinema on Thursday (4/6). The drama, starring Song Ji Hyo and Kim Moo Yeol, was originally planned to be released in March but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The release of "Intruder" proved to be welcomed enthusiastically by the audience. Because the thriller mystery genre film managed to set the record for most viewers on day 1 since the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Friday (5/6), the Korean Film Council officially announced that "Intruder", which premiered the day before, had attracted a total of 49,578 cinema viewers on the first day of its release. Until Friday (5/6) at 8:29 AM KST, the number of "Intruder" cinema viewers reached 50,411.

Although the numbers are still quite small by normal standards, the figure marks the highest number of first-day cinema viewers achieved by any film since the COVID-19 pandemic began to disrupt daily life in South Korea.

The last film that surpassed 40 thousand cinema viewers at the Korean box office on the first day was released "Beasts Clawing at Straws". The film, released 107 days before February 19, is widely considered to be the last film released in Korea before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic which effectively killed the cinema industry.

"Intruder" itself is now preparing for an international release in 26 countries around the world. Industry observers hope that the promising first day results from the film could mark the beginning of the rise of Korean box office.

Meanwhile, "Intruder" tells the story of a woman who disappeared 25 years ago. When he returned to his family a few decades later, his brother Seo Jin (Kim Moo Yeol), who was traumatized by his departure many years ago, began to be suspicious of his sister.
