The results of Yoo Ah In's hair test proved that he was indeed positive for propofol according to what was suspected by the South Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Control.
The results of Yoo Ah In's hair test proved that he was indeed positive for propofol. This means that the suspicions of the South Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Control have been proven correct.
The police will immediately summon Yoo Ah In to carry out further investigations regarding the alleged abuse of these illegal drugs. The status of a man whose real name is Uhm Hong Sik was reported by TV Chosun to have become a suspect.
"The National Institute of Scientific Investigation (NFS) conducted a detailed examination of Yoo Ah In's body hair, and tested positive for propofol," TV Chosun explained.
"When the analysis of the NFS drug was completed, the police named Yoo Ah In as a suspect who violated the Narcotics Control Act and investigated the drug administration details. Yoo Ah In's agency will make an official statement after the attorney is appointed," the media continued.
However, even though the results of Yoo Ah In's hair test were positive for propofol, this did not necessarily indicate that there were illegal actions in it. The police explained that even if propofol was detected, it was difficult to consider it important because there was a possibility that the drug would still be in the body due to sleep endoscopy.
The investigators will certainly look into Yoo Ah In's propofol use habits. The reason is, it was previously revealed that he got the recipe to use it since 2021.
South Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Monitoring began requesting that Yoo Ah In be investigated because he felt the handsome actor was taking too much propofol. The investigation started in November last year, although it only started in February 2023.
Previously, the police conducted a simple urine test on Yoo Ah In when he arrived in South Korea after leaving the United States on February 5. He tested positive for marijuana at the time and negative for propofol.
Accurate results from the urine test given to NFS also prove the same thing. Thus, the police have expanded their investigation, which was initially based on suspicions of illegal use of propofol and is now also related to cannabis abuse. (wk/alpha)
