Former BIGBANG member Seungri was sentenced to one year and six months in prison by the South Korean Supreme Court.
Launching from Soompi on Thursday (26/5/2022) Chief Judge, Noh Tae Ak ensured that the sentence had been officially ratified.
"He (Seungri) was found guilty of nine charges," he said.
Seungri was found guilty of nine charges, including violation of the Law on Increased Sentences, and so on.
The man whose full name is Lee Seung Hyun was charged with cases of Special Economic Crimes, violation of the Food Sanitation Act, embezzlement, violation of the Law on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc.
Not only that, Seungri was also charged with sexual crimes, gambling habits, violations of the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act, prostitution mediation, purchasing prostitution services, and special incitement to violence.
Currently, Seungri is being transferred to a private prison. He will serve his sentence behind bars until February 2023.
For information, from December 2015 to January 2016, Seungri was accused of mediating prostitution several times for investors in Taiwan, Japan and Hong Kong.
He also purchased prostitution services for himself to attract investment for clubs and financial investment businesses.
Seungri was charged with using approximately 2.2 billion won or equivalent to Rp. 25.4 billion to gamble at a hotel casino in Las Vegas from 2013 to 2017 and for not reporting that he lent chips worth 1 million dollars for gambling funds.
In total, Seungri got nine charges, but at that time he denied all the charges. He only admitted to violating the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act.
As a result, he was sentenced to three years in prison. Disapproved, Seungri and the Public Prosecutor both filed an appeal.
