Due to the widespread K-Pop fever, idols don't always come from South Korea. With cultural differences, this line of idols reaped bad comments for supporting their country of origin.


K-Pop idols don't just come from South Korea. Some of these famous idols were born and raised in neighboring countries, such as China, Japan, to Thailand. There are even a number of idols from the Americas and Europe.

The popularity of K-Pop is undeniable. So that many teenagers from outside South Korea who have talent and talent decide to try their luck in the Ginseng Country to make their country proud. As a result, differences in culture and nationality had surprised this line of idols.

This aespa member was caught giving support to a Chinese short speed skater (his home country) who won a gold medal at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. As a result, the problem was getting heated because Chinese netizens laughed at the response of the South Korean netter.

2. TWICE's Tzuyu

Tzuyu also received criticism from Chinese netizens for raising the Taiwan flag to show her nationality while on the program "My Little Television". This Twice member was even criticized by Huan An, a Taiwanese singer who did not agree with Taiwan's independence from China. The same thing happened to Shuhua (G)I-DLE in 2021.

The reason is, Nichkhun's ex-girlfriend 2PM unknowingly used the Japanese flag emoticon in the comments she wrote on Instagram, right during the celebration of South Korea's independence anniversary which fell on August 15. As a result, Tiffany had to take a temporary hiatus and start studying the history of South Korea.

Lay EXO was almost boycotted by South Korean netizens because of his weibo post. The reason is, Lay became one of a row of K-pop idols from China who began to show support in commemorating the involvement of the Chinese military in the Korean War.

5. Sana TWICE

Sana became the next idol to receive criticism from South Korean netizens. It started when the TWICE member said goodbye to the previous era, Heisei. The reason is, Japan is entering a new era, with Reiwa ascending the throne Crown Prince Naruhito becomes the new Emperor.

BLACKPINK (Black Pink) suddenly received satire from South Korean netizens. They considered BLACKPINK not voicing their position regarding the Hanbok issue along with the online war between Korean and Chinese netizens. This criticism is of course defended by Blink (BLACKPINK fans) because Jennie cs is known to have worn traditional South Korean costumes when promoting the song "How You Like That".
