Towards the end of his one hour live broadcast, Mingyu decided to remove his makeup in front of a hundred thousand fans after getting permission from the staff present.
Recently on January 13, SEVENTEEN's Mingyu (II) took to the popular streaming platform, Naver V LIVE, to hold a live broadcast and casual chat with fans, collectively known as Carats. In this broadcast, Mingyu removed his makeup in front of the camera, which confused many fans with his visual difference.
Towards the end of his one hour live broadcast, Mingyu decided to remove his makeup in front of a hundred thousand fans after obtaining permission from the staff present to do so. The decision to remove makeup came immediately after fans sent a request to the idol to do so, and Mingyu granted their request.
Mingyu said, "I feel like my label staff will call me if I do it without asking them first. Wait a minute. Let me ask them if I can do it."
After calling one of the staff, Mingyu said, "I got a confirmation from the label staff. Okay, I will remove my makeup in front of you today." She then got up and left the screen to grab the items she needed to remove her makeup, such as makeup remover and cotton pads.
The "Rock With You" singer then started removing her makeup, but while doing so, she burst out laughing, explaining that she couldn't believe she was removing her makeup live in front of the thousands of fans watching her.
As he removed his eye, face, and lip makeup with makeup remover, Mingyu asked the fans, "You can really say that I've removed mine now, right?" Mingyu then approaches the camera to show off his bare face, and laughs while doing so too.
After showing off his makeup-free face, he then said goodbye to fans because he had to wash his face. "Bye! I have to go and wash my face now, so this is it for today. I love you guys, and good night!" he said. Following the no-makeup "reveal of his face", fans were confused by the visual because Mingyu didn't look any different from when he was dressed up.
Many fans left comments like, "Umm... You look exactly the same...?" "Wow, I can't believe it! I think this is the reason why your label staff let you remove your makeup straight away," "Are you really removing your makeup? I mean, I see no difference at all," and many other similar comments.
