IU's Way of Cooking When Adding Garlic Makes International Fans Confused, Why?

As IU adds flavor to the soup, she prepares to add chopped garlic. Then, IU commented that since she's not a fan of garlic, she would just add a little more.

Recently, a video of IU's past resurfaced and circulated online. Many non-Korean fans were surprised to see how much the "Strawberry Moon" singer included certain ingredients in her soup despite not liking it.

It was a video where IU made a different dish to celebrate her 13th debut anniversary. First, the 1993-born singer and actress makes seaweed soup, which is usually eaten on birthdays.

As IU adds flavor to the soup, she prepares to add chopped garlic. Then, IU commented, "Since I'm not a fan of garlic, I'll just add a little bit to give it a little garlic flavor."

As she said this, IU scooped up a large amount of chopped garlic with a wooden spoon, then put it in the soup. This particular part of the video confused many non-Korean fans, as he said he doesn't like garlic, but put so much garlic in the soup.

Koreans are garlic lovers. Korea has the highest volume of garlic consumption per capita in the world, after China. After actually witnessing this through IU's cooking video, international fans left comments in shock.

Their comments included, "That's a bit? Wow...", "He's really Korean!", "I wonder how much garlic the average Korean would put in their soup LOL." etc. (wk/goddess)
