Jisoo is somewhat unlucky with 'Snowdrop'. The reason is that since the drama synopsis was leaked until it was broadcast, this drama has drawn controversy because it is considered to have distorted South Korean history.
"Snowdrop" is known to be Jisoo's debut drama as the main character. In the JTBC drama, the BLACKPINK (BLACK PINK) member plays the character Eun Young Ro, a 21-year-old girl who is currently studying English in the 1st semester.
Eun Young Ro is the bringer of a bright atmosphere in room 207 where students with unique personalities gather in the dormitory of Hosu Women's University. His biological mother has died and because he doesn't get along with his stepmother, Eun Young Ro decides to leave his house.
Unfortunately, Jisoo is not lucky enough with "Snowdrop". The reason is that since the drama synopsis was leaked to broadcast, the drama, which also stars Jung Hae In, has drawn controversy because it is considered to have distorted South Korean history.
Jisoo also decided to keep silent about the controversy. The Drama Gallery YouTube channel recently uploaded an interesting video entitled, "The real reason why BLACKPINK's Jisoo ignored the drama controversy."
Drama Gallery said, "There is speculation that Jisoo is not dealing with the 'Snowdrop' controversy at all because she believes in her overseas fandom. Therefore, this is a move based on the judgment that the drama can survive overseas even if domestic public opinion is bad. "
"'Snowdrop' is highly rated on Disney+. In particular, in the five Asian countries where BLACKPINK is very popular, it has made it into the top 5. As the work gained immense popularity overseas, there are also criticisms that it may ignore controversy (over historical distortion)," added Drama Gallery.
When interviewed by Dazed magazine recently, Jisoo finally wanted to open up a little implicitly regarding the "Snowdrop" controversy. "I want to challenge bravely and without fear as usual. The road may not always be smooth, but I will do my best without regrets. And I want to continue to look within myself and become a better person," said Jisoo.
Meanwhile, the Declaration of Global Citizens in Korea on December 22 filed a lawsuit against JTBC to stop the broadcast of "Snowdrop". However, the lawsuit was rejected by the Seoul Western District Court stating, "Even if 'Snowdrop' is based on historical distortions, the likelihood that the public will accept (the distortion as fact) blindly is low."
