"Through the Darkness" is a drama based on the book of the same name. The story focuses on a South Korea's first criminal profiler as he struggles to read the hearts of serial killers.

Kim Nam Gil plays profiler Song Ha Young from the Scientific Investigations team for the Analysis of Criminal Behavior of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. Although outwardly lacking in emotion, Song Ha Young is able to read humans more deeply.

Recently, Kim Nam Gil revealed his reason for starring in this drama. He said, "I thought I was attracted to his professional background and uniqueness as the first profiler in Korea who could show a character I had never played through the character Song Ha Young. Also, I thought that playing a character based on an existing person would be a different challenge from previously."
