GDA 2022: Broadcasts of BTS's Appearance Make Jimin's Fans Angry, This is the Trigger
This will be the first time that BTS' live performances will be broadcast exclusively on TV. However, ARMYs were furious with the way Golden Disc edited BTS's performance.

The 36th Golden Disc Awards took place on January 8 at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. Jimin BTS's fandom criticized the Golden Disc Awards for cutting off the idol's part from the broadcast stage.

Despite not attending, BTS (Bangtan Boys) was awarded four awards at the 36th Golden Disc Awards. The award ceremony was broadcast on JTBC at 3 pm local time on the same day.

The reason why ARMY's attention is on the broadcast of the 36th Golden Disc Awards is because they revealed the live performance of BTS' concert at SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles that shook the world late last year.

Previously, the organizers of the Golden Disc Awards promoted that this would be the first time BTS' live performances were broadcast exclusively on TV. However, ARMYs were furious with the way Golden Disc edited BTS's performance.

Their complaint was that JTBC degraded the quality of the "Butter" stage shown in LA, with deliberate unnatural editing. Jimin, a member who plays a key role in the performance, is nowhere to be found in some parts.

"There was a camera change in the main dancer section on the live stage, but there's no reason to edit this video because it's not live," said ARMY. "It wouldn't be a problem if the main camera had been transmitted like the other broadcasters."

They also criticized, "Most of the six cameras in the video are aimed at the dance break of lead dancer Jimin, but in the actual broadcast, it was edited awkwardly unlike the original video, so Jimin's appearance was completely excluded."

Another reason why ARMYs are angry is because this isn't the first incident. ARMY claimed that starting with the "Butter" stage held at the Billboard Music Awards in May last year, it was intentionally edited enough to appear as a "broadcast incident" as they did not show any lighting during the dance break portion.

ARMY said, "It is unacceptable to completely remove break dancing from the lead dancer, who is a core part of the song, on such an important stage. The repeated behavior throughout this year seems intentional."

The controversy over Jimin's exclusion from the stage was sparked again by the 36th Golden Disc Awards stage, drawing public anger from Jimin's fans. JTBC has not released any statement regarding this matter. (wk/chus)
