In 2020 to early 2021, it is known that TREASURE has released four consecutive albums since August, September, November and January until the end of this year there is no news of a comeback.
For a musician, making a comeback is one of the efforts to show the latest work in front of the public. Especially for a group that is debuting for the first time, but it seems different like TREASURE did.
As is known, most newly debuted groups are usually filled with their schedules seemingly filled with promotions, comebacks, and all kinds of other activities to make their name known to the public. Arguably, making a comeback was a critical time in the group's career and future success to depend on their early reputation.
TREASURE debuted on August 7, 2020 with the single album "The First Step: Chapter One" and the title track "Boy". Their second single album, "The First Step: Chapter Two" came out a month later on September 18 and their third "The First Step: Chapter Three" took another month and a half to be released on November 6.
Then, TREASURE seems to only continue until 2021 when they release their first full-length album, "The First Step: Treasure Effect" on January 11. However, this is their last comeback and now it has been almost a year without releasing any music.
Although there have been rumors of a comeback from TREASURE for a while, but nothing has surfaced. It seems that it is not until 2022 that the group will release new music. It is very likely that there will be no follow-up TREASURE comeback because many members have contracted COVID-19 in 2021.
Regarding this, K-Pop fans on Reddit recently started a discussion on the topic. Fans are venting their hearts out for the lack of content produced by TREASURE. Of course, it's not the group's fault at all, but the fault lies with the manager YG Entertainment.
"How did this go from four consecutive releases in 5 months (C1 August, C2 September, C3 November, TE January) to nothing in an entire year?" fan comments. "I don't understand because YG is promoting TREASURE as a traditional boy group with a lot of content and a large fan base. They can't promote TREASURE as a normal BG and then barely release music. That doesn't make sense," said another fan.
Meanwhile, TREASURE recently released the web drama "The Mysterious Class" which has already aired on their YouTube channel. This web drama involves all members by carrying horror stories that are very exciting to follow. (wk/taki)
