This is a tense action film based on a true story and starring Jo In Sung, Kim Yoon Seok, and Keo Joon Ho. 'Escape from Mogadishu' became a record breaker in the Korean film industry by topping the Korean Box Office after reaching more than 2 million viewers in just 17 days. In addition, this film also brought 5 trophies at the same time at the Blue Dragon Film Awards in 2021.
The film 'Escape from Mogadishu' focuses on real events during the Somali Civil War which took place in the 1990s. 'Mogadishu' itself is the name of the capital of Somalia where the riots occurred.
It is told that Han Shin Sung (played by Kim Yoon Seok) works as an ambassador at the South Korean Embassy in Mogadishu, Somalia and Kang Dae Jin (played by Jo In Sung) from the North Korean Embassy. They and other members of the embassy were threatened during the Civil War. The two then banded together to save people from both embassies from getting out of Somalia.
