It was previously announced that the debut of girl group Kep1er will definitely be postponed as a staff member who worked with the group tested positive for COVID-19 the previous day. Now, a new date has been announced for Kep1er's upcoming debut.
It was previously announced on December 5 that Kep1er's original debut date of December 14 would be postponed due to a staff member testing positive for COVID-19. On December 8, another statement was posted with a new debut date.
"This is WAKEONE Entertainment and Swing Entertainment. We would like to announce that the release date of Kep1er's first mini album 'FIRST IMPACT', which was scheduled for December 14, has been postponed to January 3, 2022 at 6 pm KST," the agency said.
The agency stated that after one onsite staff member tested positive for COVID-19 on December 4, the Kep1er members underwent a COVID-19 test first and received a negative result. All relevant staff members also underwent tests immediately, and no additional cases were confirmed.
However, considering the safety of the artist and staff as the agency's top priority, they have decided to cancel Kep1er's appearance at the 2021 MAMA and adjust the album release schedule to avoid possible infection and further transmission.
"We once again apologize to fans and related parties who have been waiting for Kep1er's debut. We will take the necessary actions to ensure that artists and staff work in a safe environment. Thank you," concluded the agency.
Kep1er's agency announced that prior to this, in order to prioritize the health and safety of the members and staff, they have suspended all scheduled activities. Therefore, Kep1er's promotion schedule will inevitably be pushed back.
They apologized to fans who were waiting for Kep1er's debut and related personnel. "We will take all possible measures so that our artists and staff can work in the safest environment, and we will faithfully follow the instructions and protocols of the health authorities," the agency said.
