Joy's Solo Album Is A Remake Of Hit Songs From The 1990s And 2000s. The singer of 'Psycho' is trying to show his own voice and emotions in these songs.
On May 31, Red Velvet's Joy held an online music listening session and press conference for the release of her solo album, "Hello." Wendy hosted Joy's press conference, replying to Joy previously being the press conference MC for Wendy's solo debut.
Joy said, "I've released solo music as an OST before, so I thought I wouldn't be nervous, but I'm so nervous now that it doesn't feel real. I feel a sense of responsibility for everyone who worked hard to make this album, and I learned a lot. while making it."
Wendy is the first Red Velvet member to make her solo debut in April with the album “Like Water.” Joy said, "I thought a lot about how Wendy must have gone through the same hardships when she released her solo album. There are so many people working hard ahead of the album's release. I hope many people listen to my album. Wendy sent me a lot of long messages that gave me strength."
Joy's solo album is a remake of hit songs from the 1990s and 2000s. He said, "I listened to a lot of songs while choosing the music for the album. The songs from the 1990s and 2000s gave me a sense of healing. I love them. I really like that retro vibe. I even said that I wish I was born more early so I was able to live through those times. I really love the pure and honest vibe that's been in the movies and other content since then. I get a lot of inspiration from movies."
He added, "I want to sincerely thank the senior artists who allowed me to remake their song. Even if I really wanted to sing a song, copyright issues could make it complicated. messes with the emotional aura of the original song."
"I try to show my own voice and emotions in the songs. There are so many good songs that it's hard to choose, but I want there to be a connecting theme. I used both songs I wanted to sing and songs recommended by other people. Luckily , all the songs I wanted, I got permission from my seniors to use," he continued.
Joy also said, "To be honest, people my age may not know many songs from the 2000s, but I practiced with them as a trainee. There are songs that I know and songs that I hear for the first time. Usually when you think of albums remakes, you think of songs that are much older. But when Lee Soo Man said that he wanted me to sing songs that could relate to mothers and children, I thought the 2000s would be perfect for that." (wk/goddess)
