Korean news outlet Sports Kyunghyang reports that IZ*ONE is currently in talks to reunite, with the majority of the members' agencies leaning towards project groups getting back together.
After IZ*ONE announced disbandment in April, many fans were sad and wanted the girl group to become a permanent group. CJ ENM has now issued an official statement regarding the possibility of IZ*ONE getting back together.
On June 19, Korean news outlet Sports Kyunghyang reported that IZ*ONE is currently in talks to reunite, with the majority of the members' agencies leaning towards project groups to get back together. However, CJ ENM (Mnet's parent company) clarified on the same day that while discussions about IZ*ONE's future are ongoing, nothing has been decided.
This was confirmed by a spokesman for CJ ENM. "Regarding IZ*ONE getting back together, while we are discussing with the members' agencies and opening up various possibilities, nothing has been decided," he said.
CJ ENM also officially discussed IZ*ONE's recent fan crowdfunding efforts to raise funds for a possible reunion. While the agency expressed gratitude for the fans' support, they explained that even if IZ*ONE got back together, CJ ENM would not use the funds raised by fans to finance the group's future releases.
The spokesperson stated, "We are very aware of the fans' fundraising. We are grateful for their support. However, even if IZ*ONE gets back together and we move forward with the production of a new album, we plan to fund it ourselves."
IZ*ONE was formed in 2018 as a temporary project group on Mnet's idol audition program "Produce 48," and they made their official debut in October of that year. After promoting together for two and a half years, the group officially disbanded in April this year.
During their active period, IZ*ONE has produced many hit songs. The 12-member girl group also set a record through the physical sales of their albums, which became one of the girl groups with the most album sales. (wk/goddess)
