Soojin (G) I-DLE has been involved in a school bullying controversy these days. Due to the controversy, her cosmetics advertising posters in several outlets have been removed or taken down.

On February 23, a photo posted on an online community showed Soojin's poster at Olive Young's cosmetics counter covered in another flyer. Soojin has just been appointed a model for cosmetic brand PeriPera.

This triggers the notion that Olive Young and PeriPera are handling the situation very quickly. However, it was revealed that the second headquarters did not ask for Soojin's poster to be covered, but some branch shops did it on their own initiative.

An official from Olive Young stated, "We have checked that the posters are only a few branches of Olive Young's store that are closed. Other shops are still putting up posters."

PeriPera announced that Soojin was chosen to be a model for the brand via social media on February 19, just before the controversy over school bullying broke out. After announcing the new model, they have been working on changing the poster from APRIL's Naeun to Soojin.

However on February 20, a netizen made a post claiming that Soojin had bullied his younger sister during school. Since companies and agencies usually define terms related to "maintaining the image", attention is gathered whether there will be a change in contract.

According to one industry source, "Companies can set terms regarding termination of contracts or compensation for damages if their brand image deteriorates. They can list requirements such as being involved in academic scandals, drugs or alcohol." Another source said, "Regarding contract cancellation, confirming the facts behind the controversy is more important than anything."

Meanwhile, Soojin denied all allegations of bullying at the school. Soojin's agency has stated, "We plan to take strong legal action." Soojin has also made a statement about the controversy and denied being involved in school bullying. (wk / chus)
