Ahead of the release, the production team held an online press conference on Tuesday (6/16). The event was attended by the director and the cast, including Kang Dong Won. On this occasion Kang Dong Won discussed various interesting things, including how he felt after "Peninsula" failed to attend the Cannes Film Festival this year due to the Corona Pandemic.
"Even though the Cannes Film Festival did not take place, I considered it an honor. My friends abroad also knew it and congratulated me," Kang Dong Won said.
Kang Dong Won later revealed that he did not experience the pressure of starring on the Peninsula even though his predecessor, "Train to Busan", experienced extraordinary success. This is because the storyline "Peninsula" is so interesting that it really makes it want to star it.
"As an actor, it can be a burden to be on the continuation of the project with its predecessor, and the actor may not be passionate about doing it. But, I don't feel that way at all when receiving the script. Because there is no Korean film that shows destruction, so I'm right really want to do it, "explained Kang Dong Won.
On the other hand, Director Yeon Sang Ho who was amazed by Kang Dong Won's acting praised the extraordinary action scene. In addition, Kang Dong Won also revealed that he did not need to go to the action school this time because the production team said that there was nothing else he had to learn.
