ASTRO has returned with their seventh mini album titled "GATEWAY" on May 4th. The music video for the main song "Knock" has also been released. WowKeren had the opportunity to conduct an exclusive interview with the six members discussing many interesting things about their mini album.
Before discussing more about "GATEWAY", ASTRO enthusiastically greeted AROHA Indonesia and had a message to convey about their main song "Knock" through the following video greeting.
The album name "GATEWAY" refers to ASTRO which moves through the gate to the new world. The main song "Knock" represents a group that knocks on doors that will take them to a new world. The lyrics for "Knock" are about traveling through time to find someone they can't meet in the present and take him to a world where they can stay together forever.
Regarding the concept of the album, ASTRO explained, "This album, 'GATEWAY', means 'the door to two different spaces', and through this album, ASTRO will become a 'Time Explorer' that crosses time and space to come to you. 7th mini album ASTRO 'GATEWAY' is an album that shows ASTRO's mature and improved freshness. All the songs are really good! So please give us lots of support. "
In "GATEWAY", there is a song written by leader JinJin himself. The 1996-born idol also explained how he wanted to convey their message through the song titled "Lights On".
JinJin said, "'Lights On', the song I wrote on this album, is a future K-Pop genre with K-Pop melodies based on the future and is unique. I post our message that we want to enlighten the darkness of AROHA as well as many others. I hope that many people will be entertained by this song. "
The "Knock" music video is space-themed and features six ASTRO members in dancing suits in neat choreography amid changing backgrounds. One prominent scene from the video shows Cha Eunwoo and friends dancing on a circular stage under a colorful planet cluster.
Moonbin shared an interesting experience when shooting a music video, saying, "When we recorded the group dance scene, the floor was made of glass tiles. Our choreography was very strong and dynamic. I broke the glass tiles while dancing. It shows how strong our dance is. So please pay attention! "
Before "GATEWAY", ASTRO released their sixth mini album "Blue Flame" on November 20, 2019. At that time Moonbin focused on recovering from physical health problems, which made him have to take a break from group promotion. Despite this, he participated in the album and appeared in the music video for "Blue Flame".
Apart from Moonbin's absence, "GATEWAY" has a quite striking difference from "Blue Fame" in terms of concepts. JinJin said, "I think the biggest difference is that the concept of 'sexy in reverie' before becoming a 'refreshing power' now. And the appearance for the main song 'Knock' is much harder and harder than the previous album. I want to show our fans and the public that ASTRO continues to grow. "
