In 2009, the public was shocked by news of actress Jang Ja Yeon who died of suicide in her apartment. KBS drama player "Boys Before Flowers" hanged himself due to depression experiencing sexual abuse to be forced to have sex with high-ranking officials in the entertainment world.

The South Korean Ministry of Justice asked prosecutors to re-examine the case of Jang Ja Yeon's death in April 2018. Jang Ja Yeon is known to have left a note claiming that he had been sexually harassed by well-known figures in the entertainment industry.

Jang Ja Yeon's record identifies what is called a sponsor, which helps talent get roles in popular TV series and films. A total of seven pages, the note mentions at least 31 names of company executives, representatives of major newspapers, and directors who claimed to have harassed them.

The investigation into Jang Ja Yeon's suicide still continues today. Yoon Ji Oh, a former deceased co-worker, recently participated in an interview with witnesses at the Attorney General's Office.

Wednesday (13/3), through his personal Instagram, Yoon Ji Oh revealed that he lives in accommodations provided by the Ministry of Gender and Family Equality. Yoon Ji Oh is known to witnesses who witnessed Jang Ja Yeon directly preparing documents before his death.

The police themselves have taken steps to protect Yoon Ji Oh as a witness. Min Gap Ryong, Commissioner General of the Korean National Police Agency, recently stated that the actress had requested personal protection and police officers had begun operating a personal surveillance system for her. Starting from March 14 at 2:30 pm local time, Yoon Ji Oh has received personal protection from the police.

In August 2018, a national petition asking for the protection of the actress was posted on the porch of the government petition. The petition requires 200 thousand participants within 30 days of making it so that government officials are required to provide official replies within one month. It turned out that the petition for Yoon Ji Oh's protection reached nearly 300 thousand participants. On March 13 through social media, Yoon Ji Oh thanked everyone for their interest and support.

Meanwhile, Jang Ja Yeon's case was re-investigated by the prosecutor's office. But the investigation will continue only until April 31.
