'Serendipity's Embrace' has aired its first episode since July 22. The first broadcast of the drama, which also starred Chae Jong Hyeop, managed to record a high rating of 3.9 percent.
Kim So Hyun and Chae Jong Hyeop recently had a photo shoot and interview with W Korea magazine. On that occasion, the two young actors discussed their experiences starring in the drama "Serendipity's Embrace".
So Hyun revealed that they had started filming "Serendipity's Embrace" 2 years ago. "We started filming in the winter of 2022 and finished in the spring of 2023. It's been 1.5 years. It took quite a long time to air," he said.
Jong Hyeop apparently didn't think that long enough time had passed. "Is it true that it's been 1.5 years? Since filming 'Serendipity's Embrace', 2 of my dramas 'Castaway Diva' and a Japanese drama were broadcast," said Jong Hyeop.
So Hyun continued to reveal that the cast of "Serendipity's Embrace" were still on good terms even though the shooting process had ended a long time ago. "After a drama ends, you naturally start to drift apart," he said.
"But we sometimes meet. The cast ('Serendipity's Embrace') lives close to each other. When we meet, we talk about how great the process of filming the drama was, so the memories are still fresh," added So Hyun.
On the other hand, "Serendipity's Embrace" tells the love story between Kang Hu Young (Jong Hyeop) and Lee Hong Ju (So Hyun), high school friends who meet again after 10 years have passed. The two were revealed to be each other's first love.
"Serendipity's Embrace" has been airing its first episode since July 22. The first broadcast of this drama managed to record a high rating of 3.9 percent. According to Nielsen Korea, the drama secured the top spot in its time slot among all cable TV channels.
Meanwhile, the first episode of "Serendipity's Embrace" also received a positive response from the audience. However, many people protested when they realized that this drama, which was adapted from a popular webtoon, only had 8 episodes. (wk/charity)
