A scene in American singer Ice Spice's new MV has been similar to (G)I-DLE's 'Nxde'. The similarity in the concept of this scene has become a topic of discussion among fans.

Recently, (G)I-DLE's MV titled "Nxde" has become a topic of discussion again because it is suspected of being plagiarized by American rapper Ice Spice. Fans have found scenes that appear similar.

On July 26, Ice Spice released their latest MV for the title track, "Oh Shhh...". However, the MV quickly faced accusations of plagiarism as netizens pointed out its similarities to "(G)I-DLE's" MV for the song "Nxde".

In particular, in the "Nxde" MV, there is a scene where Jeon Soyeon is standing inside a museum glass case while wearing an elaborate white outfit. Around the display case, there are people who look dissatisfied around her.

Meanwhile, the "Oh Shhh..." MV also features Ice Spice, dressed in white, standing against a similar backdrop of a glass box and disgruntled onlookers inside a museum. Fans strongly believe that Ice Spice's MV team has copied (G)I-DLE.

In addition, the editing and transitions also have similar elements, leading fans to strongly argue that Ice Spice has committed plagiarism. However, some argue that the types of props and transitions used in both MVs are not entirely unique as they have appeared in various other videos in the past.

(G)I-DLE fans are passionate about their striking similarities, accusing Ice Spice of copying the K-Pop group. When the two songs have different messages, the similarities are called into question.

"Funny, what Ice Spice did is the opposite of 'Nxde'," one netizen said. "Didn't Melanie Martinez also have a box scene in her MV back in 2019," another netizen said. "They are so similar but convey different messages. How could she copy Soyeon and make it a bad imitation?" added another.

"Let me be honest. K-Pop concepts steal from western artists all the time so who cares," one netizen commented. "I totally get what you mean. However, this is not a new idea, it has been done before. It has been shown in MVs where artists draw meaning from this idea either by telling about themselves as a person or being the center of attention and how they feel," another said.

However, some fans disagreed with the claim. They brought up Cardi B's music video for "Money," which was released three years before "Nxde." The music video also featured a museum scene. (wk/inta)
