The actions of an executive at Geffen Records sparked outrage among BTS fans. After controversial tweets regarding Jimin, Geffen Records issued an official apology and promised corrective measures.
Regarding their attitude towards Jimin BTS, Geffen Records released an apology. They emphasized that the action had nothing to do with the agency's view of Jimin.
On June 27 local time, Geffen Records issued the following official statement, “An employee from our label issued a post on his personal SNS account in response to a question from Jimin's fans. This was done inadvertently and in no way reflects the views of these employees or our company.”
“Both he and the company sincerely apologize for this incident. The post does not comply with the company's social media policies. Our compliance team is addressing this directly with him and implementing stricter controls across the company to ensure this never happens again,” they continued.
Then, they hope that Jimin and BTS fans will not continue to attack employees personally. Because they have tried to deal with the problem.
“As we address this issue, we ask fans to refrain from personal attacks. "We want to ensure that the scheduled release of Jimin's second solo album, 'MUSE,' will proceed as planned without impact," the label said before closing with an explanation of Jimin's album and single release schedule.
This controversy was top of mind for BTS fans over the weekend, when Head of Streaming at Geffen Records, Ray Kurzeka, appeared to disrespect Jimin in a tweet. When fans asked about iTunes pre-orders for Jimin's song "Smeraldo Garden Marching Band," he responded with a link to Gracie Abrams and Taylor Swift's "Us" and wrote, "song of the year..."
Due to this controversy, Kurzeka has deactivated his X and LinkedIn accounts due to the anger of fans, who deemed his behavior “unprofessional.” Pre-orders for the song are now available. Fans criticized the label as it took almost a week to issue a response. (wk/inta)
