The name Joong Ki was called by Lee Sung Min who won Best Actor. Sung Min felt that Joong Ki, who acted with him in 'Reborn Rich', should also be there.
The 2023 Baeksang Arts Awards were held on Friday (28/4). On that occasion, Song Joong Ki's name, who did not come to the award ceremony, apparently was mentioned in front of Song Hye Kyo.
The name Joong Ki was called by Lee Sung Min who took home the Best Actor award in the TV category. Sung Min felt that Joong Ki, who acted with him in "Reborn Rich", should also be there.
Sung Min said, "Kim Shin Rok was a candidate (for Best Supporting Actress in TV category), but he was eliminated. Kim Do Hyun was a candidate (Best Supporting Actor in TV category), but he was also eliminated."
"I was wondering what to do if I failed after clapping for 2 hours and 30 minutes, but thank you for saving my face. We shot 'Reborn Rich' for exactly one year," added the actor.
Sung Min also thanked everyone involved in "Reborn Rich". "Song Joong Ki should have come here. He said he was far away now. I want to thank my grandson Song Joong Ki and also Shin Hyun Bin," he continued.
The moment Sung Min mentioned Joong Ki's name in front of the invited guest actors at the 2023 Baeksang Arts Awards, including Hye Kyo, immediately caused an uproar among netizens. This was also specifically highlighted by the local media considering that the two were ex-husband and wife.
"It feels like Hollywood mentioned Song Joong Ki in front of Song Hye Kyo," wrote one netizen. "I'm so glad they both did well," added another. "I'm nervous," added another netizen. "I really like the results today," concluded the other netizens.
Meanwhile, Hye Kyo also managed to bring home the Best Actress award in the TV category thanks to her acting in "The Glory". The actress appeared emotional on stage but managed to keep things under control by parodying her viral lines on "The Glory".
"I won the Yeon Jin-ah award (the name of the character played by Lim Ji Yeon in 'The Glory'). I'm very excited now," said Hye Kyo, which made everyone laugh. The actress then thanked many parties for her victory. (wk/charity)
