BTS is still the main event even though it's not present

BTS still managed to steal the show on the 2022 SBS Gayo Daejun stage even though they weren't actually present. BTS songs appeared throughout the event through covers from other K-Pop idols.

The majority of the SBS Gayo Daejun 2022 night was filled with amazing performances from generation 4 K-Pop idols. LE SSERAFIM, TXT, The Boyz, ATEEZ, NCT, aespa, IVE, NewJeans, (G)I-DLE, ITZY, ENHYPEN, and Stray Kids successfully revived the Gayo Daejun 2022 night on Saturday (24/12). But what also stole the focus was how BTS still managed to get significant attention at the event even without their presence.

Even though they weren't actually present, BTS' music was in fact still dominant at the event. There are counted 7 BTS songs, including solos covered by other artists. Starting from "Dope", "DNA" to "Black Swan".

Not only was it covered, Jungkook's song, "Dreamers" was also the background music when the VCR showing a montage of the achievements of Korean athletes this year and also a clip of the BTS maknae's live performance in Qatar was played. In addition, the song "Run BTS" was also played when Yeonjun TXT performed a cover dance performance for the "K-POP Special Challenge" stage.

Apart from "Run BTS", Yeonjun also covered PSY's dance "That That" (Prod & Feat. Suga BTS). ATEEZ, CRAVITY , The Boyz, and Yeonjun performed a dance cover of the song together as the last part of their special performance. Meanwhile, ATEEZ covered Crush's dance "Rush Hour" (ft. J-Hope BTS) in the same performance.

Furthermore, "DOPE" was also covered by senior group ENHYPEN. The boy group, which is BTS's junior in HYBE, is for "DOPE", including vocals and choreography.

TXT also managed to set the stage on fire with their version of "DNA", leaving fans surprised by their ability to imitate BTS' stage presence.

then there was 10cm who performed the cove song from the OST "Our Beloved Summer" sung by V BTS, "Christmas Tree". Finally, there is Sunghoon ENHYPEN who performed a dance cover of BTS's "Black Swan" with South Korea's popular young figure skater, Cha Junhwan.

True to its name, the SBS Gayo Daejun truly celebrates impactful music in South Korea. It also includes the K-pop songs that swept the charts this year, as well as some of the older hits like SNSD (Girls' Generation) "The Boys", and Wonder Girls' "Tell Me". But the fact that BTS's music was covered the most at the event really seems to show the extent of their long-term influence in the industry. (wk/amel)
