On November 25, Chinese media released the results of the trial. It was revealed that Kris Wu will receive 11 years and 6 months in prison and deportation for rape and an additional 1 year and 10 months in prison for organizing an immoral assembly that leads to prostitution.
On the morning of November 25, 2022, the Beijing Chaoyang Court of First Instance rendered a decision regarding the rape and group indecency case for defendant Kris Wu. For rape, defendant Kris Wu has been sentenced to 11 years and 6 months in prison plus deportation. For immoral assembly, he has been sentenced to 1 year and 10 months in prison. Combined, he was sentenced to 13 years in prison plus deportation," the Beijing High People's Court said in a statement.
As a follow-up to the trial following his sentencing, it was revealed that Kris Wu had also been fined after being found guilty of tax evasion between 2019 and 2020.
"The Beijing State Tax Administration investigated Canadian artist Kris Wu's possible tax evasion from 2019 to 2020. Because Kris Wu had many fund transfers involving many domestic and foreign affiliated companies, the case was complicated, so they carried out a thorough and detailed investigation and have now reached conclusion," said CCTV News.
Reports say that all this time, Kris Wu has been avoiding large sums of money through various means, both domestically and through foreign companies.
"It was determined that from 2019 to 2020, Kris Wu evaded 95,000,000 CNY taxes by falsifying business operations and hiding his income through several domestic and foreign affiliated companies, and failed to pay another 84,000,000 CNY taxes," CCTV News continued.
