Global video streaming service Prime Video announced today that Island, one of Korea's unique fantasy action series, will premiere in December on Prime Video in Southeast Asia and over 240 countries and territories outside of Korea. This confirms Prime Video's ongoing efforts to offer a variety of Korean content globally, having previously presented the romantic comedy Love in Contract last September.
Island is a fantasy action series adapted from a comic/webtoon of the same name by Yoon In-wan and Yang Kyung-il. Set on Jeju Island, the series tells the story of the characters' journey against evil forces that are trying to destroy the world.

Produced by YLab Flex, Studio Dragon, and Gilstory Ent, Island features one of the best front and back teams, including director Bae Jong (Welcome to Dongmakgol, Fabricated City), writer Oh Bo Hyin, and a stellar cast, including Kim Nam Gil, Lee Da Hee, Cha Eun Woo, and Sung Joon.
Taking the backdrop of the beautiful Jeju Island in Korea, Island will touch on the legends and folklore of a famous tourist destination, where viewers can enjoy its natural beauty. The series will air on TVING in South Korea and Prime Video globally.
“Southeast Asian audiences love Korean content, and we can't wait to bring Island and many more Korean shows to our subscribers in the region and beyond,” said David Simonsen, Director of Prime Video Southeast Asia.

“Island will complement our growing selection of regionally tailored content, including local films and series, anime and Korean content, as well as our outstanding global content on Prime Video. Stay tuned for more information on Island exclusively on Prime Video in the coming weeks.” he added.
First published 25 years ago in 1997, Island is a collaboration between two legendary comic artists, Yoon In Wan and Yang Kyung Il, which immediately became a huge success. In 2016, exactly 19 years after its debut, Island was published on Naver Webtoon and immediately gained popularity among a new generation of comic book fans.
In 2022, this popular comic/webtoon was adapted into a live action series so fans of all generations can join in on an adventure with the protagonists. (www.kpopchart.net)
