The world was shaken with heartbreaking news from South Korea. The reason is that 149 people died and 150 were injured in the Halloween party incident that ended in death on Saturday (29/10/2022) early in the morning.
According to Allkpop's report, Yongsan Fire Department official in Seoul, Choi Seong Beom confirmed 149 fatalities and hundreds injured.
They were sent to various hospitals around Seol, and another 45 people were treated at Wonhyoro Square in the Yonsang District.
“Officers are currently trying to identify the victim quickly to report it to the family. Most of the victims are reported to be in their 20s," wrote Allkpop, Sunday (10/30/2022).
Choi explained that the horrific incident occurred on Saturday at around 10:20 p.m. KST. According to a video circulating on social media, the incident began when hundreds of people crammed into a narrow and sloping alley in the Itaewon area which is quite popular with young people.
It was so crowded that the crowd couldn't move and caused them to suffocate and fall to the ground. Officers and police tried to draw some visitors from the crowd.
Allegedly, the enthusiasm of the residents after being free from the Covid-19 pandemic made the Halloween party participants explode.
According to Choi, more than 140 ambulances have been deployed to help the victims. Meanwhile, the victim who died was a woman in her 20s.
