As a former figure skating athlete, ENHYPEN's Sunghoon is determined to leave content related to the sport because he wants to be known as an idol.

Starting a career with a background as a figure skating athlete seems to be firmly attached to ENHYPEN's Sunghoon. The former figure skating athlete has openly expressed his desire to continue to be known as a K-Pop idol.

Sunghoon is the most famous K-Pop idol because of his ability in the sport of skating. Even before appearing on the survival program "I-LAND" that formed ENHYPEN, Sunghoon had a fanbase that followed his journey as a competitive skater.

Sunghoon's achievements are also not kidding. He received several prizes throughout the year in local and international competitions. Although he has received many awards, now Sunghoon has decided to make a career as a K-Pop idol and retired from his skating activities.

However, his ability in skating was not completely forgotten because Sunghoon had performed solo at the prestigious Mnet Asian Music Awards 2020.

"I put the wheels on the skates I used when I was a skater and will be performing at MAMA with them. It feels very similar even on concrete," she said.

"What I think makes figure skating so interesting is that it's a sport that feels like a combination of two different disciplines, art and athletics," Sunghoon later said.

Now, in his latest interview with Weverse magazine, Sunghoon admits he doesn't want to appear in skating-related content anymore. That's because Sunghoon now wants to maximize his idol's abilities rather than highlighting the field he has left behind for a long time.

"To be honest, what I've been really thinking lately is that I've been doing a lot of figure skating-related things since debut. So maybe it's time to finally say goodbye. And, as a member of ENHYPEN, I really want to showed a new side of myself," said Sunghoon.

"Besides, I'm not a skater anymore—I'm Sunghoon from ENHYPEN," Sunghoon said later. Sunghoon wishes he was known as a K-Pop idol rather than as a former skater who likes to race. (wk/taki)
