On June 17 yesterday, V greeted fans through an interview with Weverse magazine. On this occasion, the owner of the real name Kim Taehyung shared his thoughts on the ideal artist to the direction he is going with his solo music in the future.
According to psychologist Carl Jung, a "persona" is an individual's public personality or mask that a person wears to meet the demands of a situation or environment. In their 'Map of the Soul' album series, BTS explores Jung's concepts of the soul, ego, and the collective unconscious, with a particular focus on the notion of Persona.
Kim Taehyung often shows a different side of himself, both on and off stage. When asked by Weverse magazine what his concept of "ideal artist" is, Taehyung shared his goals. "I hope I can appear with many personas: singer, solo singer, actor or, later, a photographer or the usual Kim Taehyung. Or when I get into something else. I want to create so many different personas. Thousands of versions of myself are out there. there and I can be the kind of person who has a new me and is good enough to do something different every day. I think that's my ultimate dream, to speak as an artist," he said.
For BTS's anthology album "Proof", Taehyung chose his solo song "Singularity" which is about accepting the public and private sides of himself rather than choosing one. "I tend to think of Kim Taehyung and artist V as separate and think that I have to choose one or the other, as visually depicted in the music video for 'Singularity'. Artist V performs on stage, and has fun with ARMY. But Kim Taehyung spent ordinary days with family and friends. Now I can accept both sides of myself, but also keep them apart."
When asked how his free-spirited nature fits BTS's type of music, Taehyung insisted that he wanted the two to be different from each other. "I think my voice in BTS music and my solo music should be different. It could be another interesting thing about me that I can show off, but it can also be a tool that I have. I like to create different characters for myself, so you can see it as something of a persona," he exclaims.
Besides that, Taehyung also talked about his love for jazz music and what style of music he wants to do now. "If you guys like something for a long time, the feeling gets stronger, and every time I like something, I end up doing something about it. I grew up listening to a lot of jazz, which I love, and I feel like that's the style of music." what I want to do now," he concluded. (wk/aiss)
