“The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure”, Fun and Hilarious Action of the Treasure Seeker Pirates!

Action films with historical backgrounds are one of the strengths of South Korean filmmakers. Various interesting ideas adapted from the country's past produce brilliant works, which are also presented through "The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure" or also known as "The Goblin Flag", airing January 26, 2022 in South Korea. .

The film is directed by Kim Jeong Hoon, who has previously scored numerous masterpieces such as “Accidental Detective” and “The Phone”, collaborating with writer Cheon Seong Il on one of his latest rising works, the popular series All of Us Are Dead. .

The lineup of unquestionable cast members participated in “The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure”, in which Kang Ha Neul played Moo Chi, a bandit leader who had to be forced to sail with Hae Rang, played by Han Hyo Joo, a captain. a ship respected by his troops.

Lee Kwang Soo as Mak Yi, Kwon Sang Woo as Boo Heung Soo, Chae Soo Bin as Hae Geum and EXO members, Sehun as Han Goong also enlivened the ranks of stars who played important characters in the film.

“The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure” will take viewers on the adventures of the pirate captain Hae Rang in search of the treasure of the Goryeo royal family that disappeared without a trace, with the help of the famous bandit leader, Moo Chi.

For a film project with an adventure style, the story presented by "The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure" is relatively light because there are not many conflicts that can distract the audience's focus from the main goal of these pirates, which is to find the lost treasure.

You can see typical pirate 'activities' in this film, from fighting storms to hijacking enemy ships to steal food supplies. The choreography shown by Han Hyo Joo, Kang Ha Neul and other stars looks smooth and not stiff, making those of you who like action movies quite satisfied to enjoy fist and sword fights in "The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure".

The backgrounds of the main characters are also briefly explained, but they can be easily understood and don't waste time being 'nostalgic' with the past of pirates and bandits.

Some scenes do look absurd, such as diving into the deep sea with the help of a breathing tank from a pig's belly to being dragged by a whirlpool, which of course, because of fiction, the characters of "The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure" still survive to their destination. But, if the fictional story is not inserted with wild ideas, of course, like vegetables without salt, right?

Kwang Soo as Mak Yi turns out to be an important role in this film, both in terms of story and setting of “The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure” in order to make this action-adventure film more relaxed. The insertion of a love story between a pirate captain and a bandit leader is also a special spice for South Korean films, which are wrapped in comedy.

The CGI of the film "The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure" as a whole is successfully displayed and can be compared with other Hollywood works. However, the penguin who was with Kwangsoo didn't seem to be working optimally because the movement was too 'CGI'.

Although it is touted as a sequel to "The Pirates" which was released in 2014, the film "The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure" has a separate story from its predecessor. You don't need to be anxious because of course you can understand the whole story of this film easily.

In short, “The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure” is worth watching for those of you who like action and adventure. In terms of choreography and CGI as well as comedy, the composition is quite fitting. The love story that is inserted is also not excessive, considering the original genre of this pirate film.

For those of you who are curious to join in the fun of searching for treasure with these pirates and bandits, you can watch "The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure" via Netflix. (www.kpopchart.net)
