The SMCU (SM Culture Universe) project has started. SM Entertainment marked the start of the first season with the release of aespa posters.
In the poster, aespa appears side by side with ae-aespa. The poster is made like a superhero movie that makes fans look forward to the story they want to tell through the SMCU.
Previously, aespa had released the first episode of their SMCU story in May 2021. It was told of four girls who went to the metaverse world to fight the dark forces that took over the world of ae, FLAT.
In the first episode, fans were introduced to a world where humans could interact with their own versions of ae through a process known as SYNK. But one day, the connection between the two was cut off due to Black Mamba's actions, resulting in a phenomenon called SYNKOUT.

The first season of SMCU began at the same time as AESPA's comeback with the release of the album Girls. The album will be released on July 8, 2022.
After that, they will also greet fans by holding a showcase in Los Angeles. They will sing hit songs as well as songs that will be released on the new album.
Prior to the release of the album, they will be releasing their first English single titled Life's Too Short. The song can be heard on June 24, 2022, two weeks before the mini album Girls is released.
Meanwhile, Lee Soo Man, as a producer, introduced a new genre through this SMCU project. The new genre is called CAWMAN, which stands for Cartoon, Animation, Webtoon, Motion Graphic, Avatar, and Novel.
