Among the six contestants for 'Queendom 2', Ex-Sistar's Hyorin became the only soloist to take part in the competition. Even though it's not easy, this is the reason PD Kekeuh invites him to join.
For 10 episodes, "Queendom" Season 2 featured an exciting competition between six contestants consisting of five girl groups and one soloist. But apparently to get the line up of the contestants is not easy.
While engaging in interviews with local media, the three producers of "Queendom 2" talked about many things. One of them is to consider the line up of contestants until finally featuring Brave Girls, VIVIZ, WJSN (Cosmic Girls), LOONA, Kep1er and Hyorin ex-SISTAR.
To present Hyorin as the only soloist and 2nd generation idol, PD Lee Yeon Gyu admitted that it was not easy. Initially Hyorin was quite difficult to be invited to join because of her background as a member of Sistar before going solo.
"It was not easy. At first it was not good," said the PD. "I've said it a few times. At least I said I'd take him two or three more times."
The PD insists on asking Hyorin to join as a contestant on "Queendom 2" because not many soloists have a career like her. Despite starting her career as a member of Sistar, Hyorin's achievements as a solo singer cannot be ignored at all.
"The bottom line is. 'Who can be a role model for other girl groups who are younger?' There's also a point. 'I have a lot of prejudice. I'm worried that Sistar's color is too strong and there's nothing to show. I've done pretty well and perfectly myself,' he thanked me, "said Lee Yeon Gyu.
During the previous season, "Queendom" attracted contestants with diverse musical colors. For this season, the PD wanted to look further into the characters the contestants might be able to develop. Inequality in the popularity of the contestants became one of the references to determine the line up.
For example, VIVIZ is considered strong for Korean domestic fandom. Meanwhile, LOONA gained a lot of international fans instead of domestic fans. That's why "Queendom 2" wants to show their charms evenly.
