BTS 'Proof' Album Sold 1.5 Million Copy In Just Half Day Since Release

'Proof' sold 1,449,722 copies. Considering Record Stores Usually Open Around 10 AM, They Easily Become A Million Seller In Just Half A Day.

BTS (Bangtan Boys) comeback by releasing an anthology album titled "Proof" today, Friday (10/6). The album demonstrated its popularity by selling around 1.5 million copies in just half a day on June 10, the day of its release.

"Proof" sold 1,449,722 copies, including 806,899 copies of "Compact Edition" and 642,823 copies of "Standard Edition," as of 5:30 pm. on the Hanteo Chart. Given that record stores usually open around 10 in the morning, they easily became million sellers in just half a day.

Sales in the first week, including the first day of release, are seen as a leading indicator of the size of a group's or singer's fandom. According to the Hanteo Chart, the highest sales in the first week were set by BTS with "MAP OF THE SOUL: 7" in February 2020 which reached 3.37 million copies.

This album contains three CDs to compile BTS's nine-year history. As a result, considering the price per album is relatively high at 19,300 won for the Compact Edition and 54,900 won for the Standard Edition (according to Weverse Shop), the fact that "Proof" sold 1.5 million copies on its first day is remarkable.

On the other hand, BTS has achieved fame not only on album sales but also on music charts. As soon as the title track "Yet To Come" was released at 1 p.m. KST, it instantly reached the top spot on the country's largest music site Melon Top 100 at 2 p.m. KST.

An official from Melon explained, "Since the introduction of the Melon Top 100 chart in August last year, BTS' song 'Yet to Come' was the first song to enter the top spot immediately after its release."

At 5 p.m., BTS was ranked No. 1 on the Melon Top 100 chart with "Yet To Come", No. 16 with "Dynamite," No. 17 with "Born Singer," No. 18 with "Butter," No. .20 with “Permission To Dance”, No.21 with “Run with BTS”, No.30 with “For Youth”, No.38 with “Spring Day”, No.45 with “My Universe”, No.73 with "Boy With Luv". In other words, 10% of the charts are filled with BTS songs. BTS also topped the Genie and Bugs charts.

Meanwhile, many are paying attention to BTS' performance on the US Billboard charts as well as in Korea. Considering that the Billboard charts start counting every Friday, they are releasing their new songs at 00:00 US Eastern Time and 1 PM Korean Time.

BTS has topped Billboard's main chart "Hot 100" with a total of six songs, including "Dynamite," "Savage Love," "Life Goes On," "Butter," "Permission to Dance" and "My Universe." They took No.1 on Billboard's main album chart "Billboard 200" with 5 albums, including "LOVE YOURSELF: Tear", "LOVE YOURSELF: Answer", "MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA", "MAP OF THE SOUL: 7" and "BE".

In particular, their album "BE" which was released in November 2020 also set an outstanding record by topping the Billboard album chart and single chart simultaneously. In the music industry, as this album covers nine years of BTS' career, many would say that it is worth looking forward to the group's next Billboard album and chart results, which will be released sometime on June 21.
