Bae Doona Regrets Missing Screening of 'Broker' and 'Next Sohee' Films at Cannes 2022

Two films that are scheduled to premiere at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, namely 'Broker' and 'Next Sohee', where Bae Doona takes a role at the same time, this actress could not attend.


"Broker" is a work that depicts the unexpected and special journey of those who have a relationship about a baby abandoned by his mother. The film, directed by Japanese director Hirokazu Koreeda, has successfully premiered at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.


"Broker" received 12 minutes of cheers and rapturous applause immediately after the screening and continued to receive praise from abroad. Not only "Broker", another film "Next Sohee" also received high appreciation from the public for its epic story.


Starring in "Broker" and "Next Sohee" at the same time actually made Bae Doona regret it. Not because of his quality, but by how he couldn't participate in being present at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.


In an online interview with on June 8, Bae Doona expressed her regret at not being able to attend the promotions for the two films. This is because Bae Doona is currently in the United States filming the Netflix original "Level Moon" directed by Zack Snyder.


"It's a shame. I tried a lot to adjust the schedule, but it didn't work. For an actor, filming was the top priority, so I had no choice," he said.


"This time, it's very disappointing that 'The Broker' and 'Next Sohee' were invited together, so this is a special year for me," he said proudly. However, his regrets did not stop there, Bae Doona also felt sorry for being absent again at this prestigious event.


"I had been invited to Cannes as a judge before, but I couldn't go because I was filming 'Sense 8'. After that, I met with the executive director of the Cannes Film Festival in Busan. I promised I would definitely come next time, but I couldn't. went again this time. It was disappointing. I have a lot of regrets about why I always shoot American films at that time," he later said.


Although unable to attend, Bae Doona was not discouraged. He also feels happy and lucky because his project partner in "Broker" namely Song Kang Ho" came out as the winner of Best Actor awarded by the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. (wk/taki)
