At first there was nothing, this is the reason IU sang a lullaby in the movie 'Broker'

Recently, a Film Journalist Mentioned Interesting Facts About IU's Casting In The Movie 'Broker' And One Of The Scenes He Had. Check out the explanation below.

On Monday (30/5), film journalist Lee Eun Seon appeared on CBS Radio's Kim Hyun Jung's News Show. Here, he mentions some stories related to the movie "Broker".

"Broker" is a film about the unexpected journey of those involved with the "baby box". The crib is a small space, where parents can leave their baby anonymously.

Sang Hyun (Song Kang Ho) finds new parents for the baby left in the box and makes a deal with them. He calls himself an intermediary with good intentions and he cooperates with Dong Soo (Kang Dong Won) in this endeavor.

They then get involved with So Young, a young woman who places her baby in the box. But she finally decided to go back for the baby.

One of the things that was highlighted by journalist Lee Eun Seon was IU's appearance. First of all, he explained the reason why Japanese director Hirokazu Koreeda chose IU as one of the main characters.

He said, "Director Koreeda watched 'My Mister' (IU's drama) during the COVID-19 pandemic. He doesn't understand Korean lines, but he can feel when the actors say the lines."

"He believes that they are actors who can capture feelings and nuances quickly. After realizing that Lee Ji Eun (IU) is a singer, he even searches for and watches many performance DVDs and videos about him," added Lee Eun Seon.

During that moment, director Hirokazu Koreeda finally created a special scene that was not previously in the script. It was the scene when IU's character sang a lullaby for her child.

Lee Eun Seon revealed, "In 'Broker', there is a scene where Lee Ji Eun sings a lullaby for her son. This scene was added after Lee Ji Eun was chosen (as the cast)."

"The director also shared, 'I wanted to hear Lee Ji Eun sing. So I thought I might have added the scene without realizing it,' concluded journalist Lee Eun Seon.

Meanwhile, "Broker" itself is the first Korean film directed by Hirokazu Koreeda, which won the Palme d'Or, the highest award at Cannes for "Shopligters" (2018) and the Jury Prize for "Like Father, Like Son" (2013) in Cannes Film Festival. (wk/eval)
