Chaewon filed a lawsuit against Hyunjoo for spreading false information about him, including bullying within APRIL and that he was dating a manager
Chaewon ex-APRIL gave the latest news about the lawsuit for defamation against Hyunjoo through a video uploaded to her personal YouTube channel on February 2, 2022.
First, Chaewon shared, "Previously, I filed a lawsuit against the defendant for spreading false information about me, including that there was bullying in our group, or that I was dating a manager."
"Since then, the police have determined that the defendant is 'not guilty,' so I'm in the process of appealing this decision," Chaewon continued.
Chaewon then revealed the details of the police report regarding the lawsuit he filed, including why the case ended with the defendant being declared "not guilty."
According to the report, the police determined that testimony by witnesses including APRIL members, group agency president, group manager, former group members, and choreography teacher were unreliable due to their close relationship with the plaintiff.
Furthermore, it is difficult to determine whether the claim can be considered completely "false information," due to the fact that the members' relationship with the group and their personal feelings are highly subjective. Therefore, it is difficult to objectively confirm the correctness of the problem.
In addition, the evidence presented by the defendant including his diary, written testimony by the trainee who was under the agency prior to his departure from the group, etc. cannot be labeled as "false."
Finally, there is reason to suspect that the dating claims between the plaintiff and the manager at the time may have been exaggerated, but because of the witness' refusal to testify, it is difficult to ascertain whether or not the claims were true or false.
Regarding the police report, Chaewon argued that the police unfairly determined whether some witnesses were "reliable" or not, while others were "unreliable" under the criteria in question.
Chaewon also stated that the former manager who was accused of dating him submitted evidence refuting the claim in the form of KakaoTalk messages. However the police chose not to accept this as proper evidence.
Finally, Chaewon commented, "I made a sincere effort by gathering testimonies from many acquaintances to reveal the truth, but all I received in return was the same 'not guilty' decision."
"But in the hope that other people like me won't have to endure the pain I went through when I was accused of false truth, I've decided to appeal," the idol continued.
"I sincerely hope that the truth will be revealed. Now I have learned that it is very difficult to prove the truth in a legal process. However, I always tell the truth, and I have nothing to hide," concluded another. (wk/chus)
