Ningning aespa's support for Chinese athletes reaps the spotlight of Korean netizens

NingNing showed joy because the team from her country managed to bring home a gold medal at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. However, Korean netizens were not happy.

Several South Korean netizens expressed their feelings after seeing NingNing aespa's support for China's short speed skater who won the Olympic Gold medal. This relates to competition at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

Recently, NingNing said in her message via Dear U platform, Bubble, "Wow, I'm glad we got our first gold medal tonight," adding, "My homeroom teacher just told me that the two Olympic winners are our alumni, which is an honour. Every athlete deserves respect," he wrote. The messages were written in Chinese.

Highlighting that NingNing is a Chinese citizen, some netizens expressed their anger, saying, "At the Olympic Opening Ceremony in China, they took on Korean culture such as hanbok, yutnori, and sangmo spinning dance. Meanwhile Chinese netizens terrorized Korean short track speed skaters via DM SNS, a Chinese member who works as a Korean idol cheers on Chinese athletes in Mandarin at Bubble. If you're Korean, of course you're angry."

Other netizens also gave responses such as "Be more reasonable please," "I don't think he even cares to look at the atmosphere," "Go back to China," "This is why we don't like Chinese idols," "This is why I don't like foreign members, " and "Why do you keep bringing in foreign members when there are so many Koreans?"

However, apart from NingNing's article, many have argued that her message reads, "All of our athletes are amazing. After watching the Olympics, I think players from all countries have worked really hard as well as amazing. Fighting," and "I just clean my room and it's really hard. Guys, everyone on Earth is one family" showing advocacy that there is no need to criticize the young idol in a hurry.

Meanwhile, China's Ren Ziwei won the gold medal in the men's 1,000-meter short track speed skating at the Beijing Winter Olympics at the Beijing Capital Indoor Stadium on February 7. Ren Ziwei seemed to have grabbed Liu Shaolin's arm from Hungary and tried to reach the finish line, but Liu held him back and crossed the line first. Later, the video reading predicted that Ren Ziwei would be disqualified for being caught using his arm.

However, Liu Shaolin was suddenly disqualified for receiving a yellow card for interfering with Ren Ziwei's trajectory. As Ren was not punished in the official review, he won the Gold medal when the silver medal went to his compatriot, Li Wenlong. Athletes from other countries except China immediately booed, but Ren Ziwei was enjoying his excitement. (wk/goddess)
