During a recent interview, the director of 'All of Us Are Dead' also talked about the characters of Cho Yi Hyun and Yoo In Soo who became half zombies.
Recently, director Lee Jae Gyu of "All of Us Are Dead" had an interview to discuss various interesting things about this drama. One of the topics he talked about was about the kind of sembi of some characters.
As the name implies, Sembi is a half-zombie human. Some of the characters classified as sembi are Choi Nam Ra (Cho Yi Hyun), Yoon Gwi Nam (Yoo In Soo) and Min Eun Ji (Oh Hye Soo).
Regarding this, the director said, "Coronavirus also has 10 people in the same room. But two are infected, some are not and the rest have to go through an incubation period. To tell a new zombie story, I think it will make the story more developed."
He continued, "The theory that humans become numb because their desire for life is greater than their fear is a false theory. We want to show you different sides of the semi."
Even though they fall into the same category, they don't just have one type. The director explained, "Nam Ra is an immune person. An immune person has strong antibodies, so even if the virus enters, it doesn't thrive."
"We classify it as an 'immune' which even though it is bitten by a zombie, it remains a human," he added. "But also feel the suffering of severe hunger and acquire strong senses."
Unlike Choi Nam Ra, Yoon Gwi Nam and Min Eun Ji belong to the "immortal" group. "Eun Ji and Gwi Nam are classified as 'immortal', where they become zombies but the function of reason and thought persists," explained the director.
"The 'immune' group cannot infect other people, while the 'immortal' group are zombies that can infect other people. So far that can be explained, because the rest could be spoilers for the next season," concluded director Lee Jae Gyu.
Meanwhile, "All of Us Are Dead" is a drama based on a webtoon of the same name. The original work tells the story of a group of students trapped in their school during a zombie outbreak. As a result, the students desperately run away from the school so they don't turn into zombies. (wk/eval)
