The youngest member of the boy group SHINee, Taemin was previously known to have started his mandatory military service as a member of the military band. However, Taemin had to let go of the task because of this.
Through the agency of SHINee's Taemin, SM Entertainment said today, January 14, 2022 that Taemin will be transferred from a military band to public service.
The reason for this decision was due to the worsening of symptoms of depression and anxiety of SHINee Taemin during his time in the military band.
The following is a full statement released by the agency, SM Entertainment, regarding the transfer of SHINee's Taemin to public service for his mandatory military service.
"This is SM Entertainment.
On January 14, Taemin was transferred from the military band to additional service.
Due to the symptoms of depression and anxiety that Taemin suffered before [his military service], he continued to receive treatment and therapy even while serving his military service. However, as his symptoms recently worsened, the military decided that it would be impossible for him to continue his military life and treatment at the same time, and so he was transferred to auxiliary service.
Therefore, Taemin plans to fulfill his military duty as a public service worker.
We apologize for causing you concern through this sudden news, and we will continue to focus on Taemin's future treatment and do our best to ensure that he can find stability.
Thank You."
Before starting his military service on May 31, 2021, SHINee's Taemin had already released his third mini album entitled Advice. (www.kpopchart.net)
