Now, Suga has set another record by becoming the first Korean male artist to reach over 11 million monthly listeners on Spotify. He also broke the record previously recorded by RM.
BTS (Bangtan Boys) continues to set records left and right, and Suga is no exception. After an impressive year of achievement, Suga has set a new record on Spotify with the song "Girl Of My Dreams," which he worked on with Juice WRLD.
This follows another record that Suga set with his collaboration with Juice WRLD in December 2021. With "Girl Of My Dreams," the owner's real name Min Yoongi became the first Korean artist to debut at number 1 on Billboard's Digital Song Sales chart.
Now, Suga has set another record by becoming the first Korean male artist to reach over 11 million monthly listeners on Spotify. As of this writing, it has amassed 11,020,860 listeners. This follows a huge spike in streaming of “Girl Of My Dreams,” which has now helped him set two different records for Korean artists.
By becoming the most streamed Korean male artist on Spotify, Suga has beaten the previous record holder, fellow BTS member RM (Rap Monster), which totaled 7,849,965. In doing so, Suga became the first Korean male artist to exceed 8 million monthly listeners, and then of course, 9 million and 10 million, before setting this new record with 11 million.
Fans have a lot to be proud of. Even though Suga has surpassed RM, all of the members have set a pretty big record with their achievements as solo artists. BTS is known as a group that consistently pushes boundaries, so fans can't wait to see what they do next.
In other news, Suga had an interview with GQ Korea. Asked what he wrote in his notebook recently, he said, "A new memo... My recent solo song. Since I always write lyrics in a notebook, I think most of them are lyrics that I worked on."
Since Suga said "recent solo song", fans suspect he is working on the latest Agust D mixtape. Suga released his first mixtape ("Agust D") in 2016, and he released his second mixtape ("D-2") in 2020. (wk/dewi)
