And in a recent interview with Elle Singapore, Jeon Somi talked about her new agency, career, and more. The "XOXO" hitmaker is currently a solo artist under The Black Label, and he shared what led him to join the agency for his current solo career.
Jeon Somi initially received attention as a well-known trainee from JYP Entertainment who later debuted as a member of the project girl group IOI. The mulatto singer was also rumored to be part of the ITZY lineup.
Somi finally decided to go solo, and revealed that Teddy, the founder of The Black Label, had contacted her personally to ask if she wanted to join the agency. He also shared that he was very happy with the offer to join the same agency that houses some of his favorite artists, such as 2NE1 and BIG BANG.
"Then Producer Teddy contacted me to come to THEBLACKLABEL, and I couldn't believe it. I have become a fan because I have listened to BIG BANG and 2NE1 while growing up," said Somi.
The 2001-born singer then further shared that it was and the sincerity in her eyes and her passionate ideas for her career were what finally convinced her to join YG Amily.
"When I met him, he was very passionate about explaining all the opportunities he saw in me. I felt sincerity through his eyes, and knew I could trust my future with his direction," said Somi.
"I can say with certainty that it was the best decision I've made in my life so far," continued Somi. And now, Somi is growing rapidly as a musician under The Black Label with many successful hits such as "What You Waiting For," "Dumb Dumb," and most recently, "XOXO". (wk/goddess)
