Rei IVE is Suspected of Deliberately Not Taking High Notes at the Encore Stage, Instead Say This

The rookie girl group IVE has proven their ability as future idols, but some netizens are suspicious because of the vocal ability of one of the members, Rei.

Currently, IVE has become one of the hottest rookie groups right now. Arguably, this group has been gaining attention from the public as several posts are made about community forums and social media every day.

Just two weeks after their debut, IVE quickly gained five trophies on music shows with their debut title track "Eleven". This Starship Entertainment girl group also had the opportunity to showcase their live vocals on the encore stage.

However, some say that singing live on the encore stage is no longer an opportunity. Rather, it is a challenge for idols to prove their vocal abilities. It seems that IVE's opportunity to appear on music encore shows has attracted attention.

This is because one of its members, Rei, has become a hot topic among South Korean netizens. People noticed that instead of singing her high notes during the first pre-chorus, Rei found a way to avoid her. During their first encore stage, Rei burst into tears and was interrupted while singing. In the next stage, he will stop singing and shout DIVE which is his fandom name.

Since this has happened more than once, many have claimed that Rei was unable to play the notes directly. People say that though it's okay to do it once. However, it was troubling that he had avoided high notes for each encore stage. Many chose to tell him not to do this and demanded that he sing the high notes properly.

"It's okay to do it once, but you shouldn't do it every time," commented a netizen. "He pretends to be funny and uses this trick all the time," another commented. "He sings the other parts well, so what?" wrote netizens. "He has a great voice, but the fact that he avoids high notes every time is suspicious," said another.

However, DIVE has defended Rei by saying that he only gave a shout out to the group. The lyrics that he sings when translated into Indonesian reads, "A foreign name that tickles my lips." During the encore stage, Rei changed the word "name" to DIVE which means he sings, "a foreign DIVE that tickles my lips." Supporters of the group stated that this was just his way of showing his love for their fans.

Meanwhile, IVE has debuted under Starship Entertainment on December 1, 2021 through the single album "ELEVEN." On Monday (21/12), the company held a face-to-face showcase to celebrate the release of their single album. In addition, the debut showcase was broadcast live on IVE's official YouTube channel.
