In a recent interview with Vogue Korea, Jungkook discussed his success with BTS and the pressure he feels due to BTS' positive influence in the world.
BTS (Bangtan Boys) recently had an interview with Vogue Korea. Jungkook talked about how he always wondered what made them so beloved by fans.
BTS has changed Jungkook's life dramatically. In 2014, BTS roamed the streets of Los Angeles, inviting random passersby to their free concert. They worked hard by distributing flyers.
Since then, BTS's popularity has skyrocketed. In 2021, tickets to their concert at SoFi Stadium, LA, sold out in minutes. Compared to before and now, Jungkook admits that he still can't talk. "I've always wondered why people love and adore us," said the "golden maknae."
"I thought a lot about how I got to this point. First, I was lucky to have such a talented team member! Second, we have a CEO who loves music very much. In addition, perhaps the synergy of songs, lyrics, messages, concerts, and public appearances." BTS is attracting more and more fans?" he continued.
Jungkook added, "Lately, it's getting harder and harder for me to understand the situation. I think it's because I can't meet the audience in person. I have to work harder to prove that I deserve their support."
The 1997-born singer is also very concerned about the positive influence of BTS, which sometimes makes him depressed. "As I get older, I feel more pressure. I'm not that great, and I'm not very good and virtuous," Jungkook said.
"I am a very ordinary person, and I am often scolded by the other members for my immature behavior. If the world sees us as a good influence, then I need to try to match and match my actions and thoughts with those values."
ARMYs have implemented BTS's positive message into their actions. ARMY seems to have become a global cultural movement that transcends fandom. For this, Jungkook admitted that he was amazed at ARMY.
"I'm just someone who likes to sing and dance, but ARMYs achieved bigger things for us. I can't thank them enough for their support for us, but they also do amazing things," he said.
Jungkook continued, "I'm really touched by ARMY, who started out as a group of BTS supporters but have grown to become a real force for good. I'm inspired by them."
"It seems there is nothing special that I can do (to repay ARMY). I came to the conclusion that being good at my job, as I have done, is what I can do for ARMY," concluded Jungkook. (wk/chus)
