Recently the viewers of the drama 'Racket Boys' in Indonesia expressed their disappointment to SBS.
The protest action began when the drama 'Racket Boys' aired its 5th episode on Monday (14/06).
In that episode, one of the main female characters named Se Yoon underwent a badminton match in Jakarta.
However, many Indonesian viewers were disappointed, because the drama 'Racket Boys' portrayed Indonesia with a bad image.
The first scene that became controversial was when coach Han Se Yoon from Korea said that the committee in Indonesia deliberately gave a hotel with poor facilities to the Korean team, because Indonesia wanted to beat Han Se Yoon in various ways.
Another scene that became controversial was when Han Se Yoon managed to come out victorious and a team of supporters from Indonesia immediately mocked and shouted at him.
As a result, the SBS Instagram account was immediately flooded by Indonesian netizens who did not accept the bad portrayal of Indonesia.
A netizen with the username @mbakcinde commented in English, "SBS, please be careful, we are very disappointed with 'Racket Boys' episode 5, which led to bad opinions towards Indonesia, please reconsider, because we are very disappointed with this. We thought it was a really good drama until we saw episode 5, and we hope that the future for 'Racket Boys' and other dramas doesn't lead to bad opinions towards Indonesia. Thank you."
Another netizen with the username @ekisugiyanti also commented, "I am disappointed with the dialogue in episode 5, in that dialogue it seems that Indonesian supporters have no manners even though Indonesians are world-famous for being friendly. This makes me as an Indonesian citizen very disappointed, especially today Indonesia has lost an Indonesian badminton hero, please understand the grieving Indonesian people."
SBS, please take responsibility for the controversial dialogue about Indonesia in episode 5. This is not funny at all," wrote another netizen with the username @kdgcici__.
