JYP Entertainment gave a more detailed statement regarding the lawsuit filed against netizens who claimed to be victims of Lia ITZY's bullying.
Previously, the police stated that they had rejected the lawsuit filed against netizens who claimed to be victims of Lia's bullying, due to lack of evidence.
In response to this, JYP Entertainment admitted that they did not accept the results and they planned to request a re-investigation of the case.
As stated by the JYP Entertainment agency in its latest statement:
"Hello, this is JYP Entertainment.
We would like to inform you of the agency's position regarding media coverage of our artist, Lia. The first accusation was not against A as a victim of violence at school, but against posts and comments that were considered malicious, including A's posts.
The cited article was posted on internet forums for more than 2 years since 2018, and we don't know who the original uploader was. They also did not specifically complain about violence in schools. The agency operates on a system that regularly takes legal action against malicious posts based on fan reports and post monitoring. In this process, these articles will also be the subject of a legal process carried out in December 2020.
During the police investigation, it was found that 4 of the 5 posts above were written by the same person with a different username, and the other 1 was written by someone else. However, while the police were investigating the case in February this year, a post on another Internet forum was posted by the person believed to be the author of the above post, stating that they were being investigated by the police. The author and his friend complained about being bullied at school, but afterwards a friend who posted an article on the same internet forum said that he didn't consider the incident to be school violence and didn't think it was a big deal. The person who posted the original article also posted and deleted the article repeatedly.
After the legal representative submitted a complaint and took legal action on Lia's behalf, the police filed a lawsuit against the two uploaders of the post. However, through interviews with the media, the police dropped the charges against the author of the post, stating that there is no evidence to suggest that the content is false nor is there any evidence to suggest that the content is true. In other words, being withdrawn does not mean Lia admits to committing violence at school. Therefore, the artist and the company are planning to file an objection to the police and request a re-investigation of defamation with false facts. Both the artist and the agency want the truth to be revealed through a deeper investigation.
This is because we believe that there should be no victims of being treated unfairly, but at the same time, there should be no victims of untrue or distorted information." (www.kpopchart.net)
