Spotify is currently holding an “EQUAL” campaign which promotes gender equality in music.
Spotify selects female artists of various genres from each country to be the representative in the “EQUAL” campaign playlist for each month.
Red Velvet's Wendy was chosen to be the first South Korean artist to become the cover for her country's playlist.
The idol, who recently made his solo debut with “Like Water”, said that he is happy to join this campaign and hopes that everyone in the music industry can work more together in advancing artists around the world.
Meanwhile, this campaign was carried out because based on a Spotify survey on the 'Billboard Hot 100 Annual Single' from 2012 to 2020, there were only 21.6% female artists,
