Some time ago one of the Chilean television channels received criticism from BTS fans and netizens for the racist humor they broadcast by pretending to be a member of the boy group.
The video clip of the program “Mi Barrio” which was broadcast through the private television channel MEGA has gone viral on social media.
Fans around the world are demanding that the parties concerned make an official apology for this.
On this day, MEGA, as the television channel broadcasting the program, released their letter of apology through its official Twitter account and translated in English by the BTS fanbase account from Chile, @BTS_Chile.
“Regarding the controversy regarding the sketch that was broadcast on the TV show 'Mi Barrio', Megamedia would like to state the following:
Humor helps people deal with the difficult times we have had because of the pandemic. Mega's humor has clearly stated the boundaries of its broadcast orientation, and these are generally recognized boundaries.
However, we want to manifest our absolute empathy with those who may feel affected by the “El late de Raquel” section, and we apologize / ask for your forgiveness. It is never our intention to offend, insult or harm any community.
We will continue to improve, learn and listen, and stick to our intention: to bring entertainment to families. We collect all positive comments as well as critics to improve our behavior. "(Www.kpopchart.net)
